Cowhorn's first ever skin contact blend. 75% Viognier and 25% Marsanne
This unusual wine is made from a blend of whole-cluster fermented Viognier and destemmed Marsanne that was fermented on its skins. Pressed after fermentation is complete, the wine takes on an orange to amber color from the natural pigments in the skins. Aromatically, peach and nectarine notes are prominent, accentuated by blood orange peel, white pepper, oyster shells, and pea shoot aromas. On the palette, Mirabelle plums, kumquat and lavender are present. Texturally dense, there is a generous fine-tannin structure, delicate acidity, and persistent weight. With the flavors and acid profile that is characteristic of white grapes, and textural structure more characteristic of red grapes, this wine pairs particularly well with a wide array of foods.
